The Groups

Every kid finds
their level

Three groups, each with its own pace and personality. Not sure which fits? The quiz below figures it out.

Ages 6–7

Sprouts

Where it all begins.

For the kids who've never touched a climbing wall — and the ones who touched it once and haven't stopped thinking about it. Sprouts sessions are all about building body awareness, learning to trust your grip, and discovering that falling on a crash pad is actually kind of fun.

Scramblers

Routes as puzzles.

Scramblers have the basics and are ready to think. Each session introduces a new movement concept — flagging, hip turns, drop knees — and then sends them up a route to try it out. The group dynamic is tight. These kids cheer each other on.

Summit Kids

Serious climbing. Serious fun.

For the young climber who's caught the bug and wants to go deeper. Summit Kids work on lead climbing fundamentals, project routes across multiple sessions, and begin to develop their own coaching eye.

What parents actually say

Unsolicited. Unedited. Very much real.

My daughter Zoë cried on the way to the first session. By session three she was asking to go on weekends. She's in Sprouts and the coach — Daniela — remembers every kid's name and what they're working on. That detail matters to me more than any curriculum.

I compared four after-school programs. Ascend was the only one where the coach walked me through the safety equipment herself before I even asked. My son Marcus has been in Scramblers for five months. His focus at school has improved noticeably — his teacher mentioned it unprompted.

I pick up my granddaughter Amara on Tuesdays and Thursdays. She talks about climbing the entire drive home. Names the holds, describes the routes. She's eleven and in Summit Kids. I don't know what a V4 is but I know she does, and she explains it to me every week.
